A new voice in the Mets radio booth

Inside Radio reports
CBS Radio sports WFAN, New York (660) recruits Josh Lewin from middays at sports sister “105.3 The Fan” KRLD-FM, Dallas to become part of the New York Mets broadcast team. He succeeds Wayne Hagin, who’d worked in the booth for the past three seasons. Lewin previously was a television announcer for the Texas Rangers from 2002-2010. He’s expected to have an on-air role at WFAN beyond Mets games.
I'm not sure how Josh will work with Howie Rose, but fans who didn't enjoy hearing Wayne Hagin will likely embrace the change. Let's hope they don't call it the "Peerless Boiler Broadcast Booth" this season.

Stay classy, Philly fans

Update: The video has been pulled by YouTube for copyright reasons. It showed a Phillies fan at Citi Field dumping a beer on, then punching, a Mets fan.

Mets get rid of Heilman, get a Putz

It's pronounced "puts" and he's supposed to be good, but after what I've seen coming out of the Mets bullpen the past two years the headline seemed appropriate. J.J. Putz will be the setup man for Francisco "K-Rod" Rodriguez. Schoeneweis and Smith are also gone, with Sean Green coming in for middle relief. Let's hope that Omar Minaya made the right moves.

An epic beatdown

When the win probability flatlines that early in the game, when you lose by 9 runs in a four-hit shutout...that's an epic beatdown.

Let's Go Mets!

How satisfying is it to be 3-0, see the World Series Champion Cardinals 0-3, and leave St. Louis with a sweep? We're picking up where we left off last season, with good pitching, solid defense, and some run-scoring.

No baseball tonight, but you can groove to your choice or early or late Dead from this date in history.

Make-The-Mets-O-Meter

I love Eric Simon's prospect tracker at Amazin' Avenue. If you're a Mets fan, check out his Make-The-Mets-O-Meter. It lists the players, their chances of making the team (up, down, or even), and a pithy yet piquant comment.
