Frank Zappa Memorial Day Meltdown
Bob Chamenko does it again!
The Frank Zappa Memorial Day Meltdown makes its annual appearance this Friday May 28 at 7pm AND 11:30pm!! The six and a half hour special will run from 7pm to 10pm and 11:30pm to 3am with a 90 minute public affairs break from 10pm to 11:30pm. The annual dose of ZAPPA will be presented by Bob Chamenko with special guests (& Zappa experts) Johnny "the Rod" Curotto & Dave "the Crusher" Kisyk. The massive FZ Special will include music from all aspects of Frank's career and will feature Zappa interview material as well as frequent readings from various Zappa books. Enlightening and entertaining, the Frank Zappa Memorial Day Meltdown should provide a great start to the holiday weekend. "Just add water, makes its own sauce!"
Note: the music will be interrupted from 10:00-11:30 p.m. for some crappy Pacifica programming.

A sad day for local radio: WPKN ditches Montauk-New London signal
After five years as a regional broadcaster covering the I-95 from Stamford, CT to Westerly, RI, WPKN has given up its Montauk frequency and will no longer broadcast on 88.7 FM. Today at 12:00 noon, Hamptons Community Radio will assume control of the signal. WPKN will be heard no more on the East End of Long Island and east of the Connecticut River.

INFO ON THE CAUSE:
Police investigate a mysterious chainsaw "massacre" that may have destroyed 15 sycamore trees along St. Mary's-by-the-Sea during the nasty storm Saturday night March 13th.
Fifteen stately sycamore trees lining the waterfront walkway in the scenic neighborhood park were vandalized -- perhaps fatally -- by "girding" cuts, sliced several inches into their circumference. The deep cuts, apparently inflicted with a chainsaw, prevent nutrients from traveling up a tree's bark to the leaves.
