Playlist, March 29, 2009

Sorry, no playlist this week. We're in the middle of fundraising, and I was told to follow a format, read a script and play the CDs we were offering as premiums. So much for WPKN's long tradition of unformatted radio and programmer autonomy.

Griping aside, go to their web site and donate. Despite the crap sandwich they're serving for this pledge drive, it's still one of the last bastions of decent radio left and they deserve your support.

Just to save you the trouble of tuning in, here's WPKN, Inc.'s fundraising script as rendered in GarageBand.

It's hard to sell an unpopular idea

Age of Hooper reports on International ANSWER's latest protest, happening to day in Washington, D.C. The turnout is underwhelming.

Tea Party in Ridgefield this weekend!

I'm passing this along to my liberty-minded readers. The new American Tea Party -- a good ol' tax protest -- is catching on, and there's one here in the Nutmeg State this weekend.
Fellow Concerned Citizens --

Are you ready to have your voices heard? Do you feel that the incredibly wasteful and reckless spending of the current administration and Congress will do great harm to all Americans? Do you want to meet like-minded citizens that oppose the incredibly dangerous and wasteful policies of this administration?

Please join fellow patriots for a “Tea Party”:

Saturday, March 21st in Ridgefield , Connecticut at 10 a.m. to noon in Ballard Park

This is your chance to let other Americans know that they are not alone in opposing destructive federal spending!

Here are some particulars you may want to know:

Ballard Park is located on Main Street , adjacent to the CVS Pharmacy and directly across from the town library. Please do not park in the CVS parking lot. Understandably, CVS would like this lot to be used by their patrons. Be respectful of the businesses here in town, they are taxpayers just like you! Patronize them if you can.

Parking: There is plenty of free parking within a block or two of Ballard Park . We recommend the FREE municipal parking lots behind Town Hall off of Bailey Ave. (Bailey is a one way street.) Look for the green and white parking signs.

Overflow Parking is available off of Prospect St .

Please join us for a fun, positive day in Ridgefield ..

Just as concerned citizens in 1773 started something larger than themselves, let this event lead us to more responsible government.

Help Zach Deputy save the show!

Zach Deputy needs your help!
On Friday the 13th, at about 10:40pm, Zach Deputy had his tour truck with all of his gear and equipment stolen from a La Qunita parking lot in Paramus, NJ. Zach performs more than 250 shows per year throughout the Eastern United States and Canada, and is on the road about 300 days a year, thus all of his clothing and every other item one can imagine for his personal life was also in the truck. Zach was on his way to a recording studio in Woodstock, NY at the time, and-- in addition to the instruments and electronic gear needed to perform and record this record-- many tracks that had been previously recorded were in the computer he lost in the theft.
If you can, please visit the link above and help stimulate the Zach Deputy economy with a little good-hearted spending.

It's hard to sell an unpopular product

Pacifica's New York station, WBAI, is in serious trouble. WNYC has an audio report. There is talk of WBAI going into receivership and the Pacifica Foundation taking over the running of the station from Berkeley. Apparently when your radio station is a clusterfuck of unlistenable programming run by barking moonbats and violent thugs the donations dry up.
